MIERLE LADERMAN UKELES IS MY TEACHER.

The workers.

The cleaning staff in a public institution such as a school.

They are not on the front line like a teacher or students.

They are invisible and excluded from many procedures that have to do with school life.

I am a teacher. Giota is the cleaning lady in my school.

This artwork, the images, the videos, the interviews and the performance are associated with the authority and the power in the school environment.

Giota is asked about her wishes, needs, demands and hopes for the future, focusing on what she would like to change. We both take part in a performance dancing and hoping that we could meet through our different roles.

Giota has many dreams for the future.

I wish all her dreams come true.
